Well there’s my latest photo..taken Thursday, January 20th, 2011. 3 months and 2 days since my bariatric surgery. When the weight comes off over time, it’s hard to get a sense of what a 65 pound weight loss looks like. When you know you need to lose another 50 or 60, it’s hard to appreciate what even a partial goal does to how you look. It wasn’t until I saw these 3 photos together that I was truly able to appreciate the difference. Not too mention, my clothes are falling off, old skinner clothes are being retrieved and put back into the rotation, and a new jacket I got on at the Wharf in San Francisco last week, got added into the mix.
Here’s a fun thing…when we got here about 16 months ago, I put into storage, clothes that wouldn’t even button or zip up anymore. A couple of weeks ago, I went to retrieve some of them hoping that I would be able to finally fit into some of them…6 pairs of pants later…none of them fit! THEY ARE ALL NOW TOO BIG!! I can’t help but laugh. Waited too long…missed the fit window. And I couldn’t be more thrilled.
What an experience this has been, some tough things along the way, but for the most part, my bariatric surgery has been a great experience. I’m going to cover some of those things in my next video blog. Hopefully I’ll have that out next week. When I talk about bariatric surgery, for me it was the VSG, or Vertical Sleeve Gastrectomy. A newer procedure which I’m so glad I chose over the lap band. I know many people are having wonderful success, but I felt the VSG would be more suited for me. And I’m still eating what I want. Bread, pizza, pasta, potatoes, steak, fried chicken, hamburgers, french fries, desserts…yep, all the stuff that Jillian on The Biggest Loser says will help you reach your weight loss goals! (Ha)
In my next blog, I’m going to cover a topic that my wife is not happy about. We actually had quite a disagreement about it, but I will not back down.
Thanks for all of your emails and encouraging words posted here and on my youtube channel. I am rooting for all of you that have recently underwent some form of weight loss surgery, and those of you that have it scheduled in the near future. YOU ARE NOT MAKING A MISTAKE! Keep moving forward. I was on the dark side of this just 3 months ago, and now here I am…65 pounds down, and feeling great.
Talk to you soon,
Terry
